To begin my adult gap year I had to find a job, I was sitting in bed reading the paper and there it was Station Leader in Antarctica….. I could do that…….. the selection process was brutal, psychological testing, phone interviews then a five day camp with 16 high achieving, type A personalities all competing for a position in one of the last wilderness spots in the world.

Antarctica Unreachable in winter, only just reachable in summer, isolated, no skype, satellite internet, no pay t.v, no newspapers, no mobile…………..no candy crush!!!!  But I always wanted to see an aurora, see one so close that I could dance in it, that is why I want to go and work in Antactica, I want to dance in an aurora.  I got through the selection process and was successful but then found out it was going to take at least 2 years before I got to the ice

What was I going to do for 2 years with itchy feet and no job!!!

Thank God a month down the track and another new adventures beckoned About the same time as I applied for Antarctica I had applied for a job in Saudi but this job started as soon as I got a visa an ideal way to take my mind of that unbearable wait to get to the ice …………go to the desert.

Can’t wait
