The dust is flowing

This morning I was driving down a dirt road in the Northern Territory with an local Anmatyerre lady.  It was windy and fairly cold, as it is this time of year in the Central Desert region.  As dust blew across the road Frances said “the dust is flowing”.

What an amazing description, because it was flowing.  Swirling across the landscape, slithering across the road, gathering in trees to create a faint haze across the horizon.

Before Frances comment it was just a windy dusty old day, now I was appreciating the flowing dust.  Seeing the world through other peoples eyes can make you look at everything in a different way.  Thats one of the joys of travelling.

So today I tried to stay mindful in every moment, appreciating the mundane with new eyes.  Even when there was dust in them.
