Melbourne to Papunya Day 1

A quick stop in the outskirts of Mildura for some fruit and veg to supplement the chicko rolls over the next few days!!

OMG we bought a camper trailer

…Considering we nearly got divorced last time we set up a tent, the investment in an easy to assemble camper trailer alternative seemed to be wise

The beautiful face of Phuket

Lying flat on the kayak and pulling ourselves along with our hands, we can slid through the cave system to emerge into the bright lagoon

Roadtripping

It was two very stiff and sore people who emerged from the tent at 5.30 the next morning. The sleeping mats did not inflate and we spent the night doing pressure area care every hour instead of sleeping.

A sunny day in paradise

The light shines on the glaciers highlighting the ancient blue glacial ice that peeks through the snow that has clung to the icy surface. It reflects off the snow and ice, bouncing up to blind my eyes as I walk across the station. Looking across the Islands and ice bergs it is easy to see that spring is only a few days way

If old buildings could talk

In Antarctica there are many old buildings, they are not old in years but they are steeped in history and have led a harsh life exposed to Antarctic weather, wind and snow blast them all winter, then summer delivers 23 hours a day of sunlight with no ozone filter. The old walls could tell stories of expeditioners who have sat around on a Sunday afternoon talking crap and playing cards

Squashed against humanity

all our small victories and joys, tears and home sick moments, squabbles and encouragements create our little ‘squash’ moments. Even in Antarctica we are all still squashed up against humanity

The cycle of life

The cycle of life is never demonstrated so dramatically as well you are in the midst of it.
